Owing to their common cultural, historical, ethnic and linguistic heritage, the Embassies of the member countries of the Latin Union in Zimbabwe have established a Latin Union's Group, composed of: Angola, Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, France, the Holy See, Italy, Mozambique, Portugal, Romania and Spain.

In addition to their very broad common values in the spheres of ways of life, a strong sense of family and of community, education etc., most of the Latin countries share, together with several other countries, their particular approach to the economy. While they do not disregard the benefits of pure liberalism, their view tends to temper some of its historically proven negative effects with a sense of solidarity, and with the necessity of protecting the basic social and economic rights of the individual against the excessive power of the large economic holdings.

Furthermore, it also appears that generally the foreign policies of Latin countries are far less influenced and controlled than others by the interests of the major private financial and economic groups.

Similarly, the small and medium-size enterprises in the Latin countries have shown vigorous development, and in some of them a great number of these enterprises are exporting to third markets. One of the main reasons for this success is the solid social family network in Latin countries, which forms the basis for sound economic and entrepreneurial activities.

Although Latin countries can have very divergent political systems and are sometimes divided by harsh political quarrels, for many reasons, including the above factors, all their differences are like family disagreements during which their people never lose their sense of belonging to a coherent unit.
